We were a very respectable 9th place out of 17 bands, a little higher would have been nice but we were very happy with our performance.

Huge thanks to all those who helped us today, especially Sarah Groarke Booth on being our MD on the day, and to Jess Tredrea for her support with the rehearsals she took leading up to the contest.

Also a special mention to Band Supplies for lending us a trombone at the very last moment when a trigger broke on one of ours minutes before we went on stage!!

Following the North West Area Contest on the 25th February The Marple Band are seeking a Musical Director.

The Marple Band are currently a 2nd Section Band and we rehearse on Tuesday and Friday evenings 8-10pm in Marple.

We have a balanced diary of concerts, both full band and our Bierkellar Band, and we look to undertake a couple of contests a year, plus Whit Friday.

The band has a friendly atmosphere with a mix of younger and more experienced players. We enjoy working hard as a team and get along well with each other both around the stand and socially.

We are seeking a confident, creative, and hard-working Musical Director to take the band forward musically, push the band for more success, and be a part of our team.

The band are now back after a short break and are rehearsing for the test piece Tritych for the North West Regionals which are held at the end of February. We still have a vacancy for a back row cornet player to complete our band. If you are interested please do get in touch.

Always a favourite with the band, playing carols and bierkeller style music at the Devvie in Peak Forest.

Their last gig of the Xmas season and a chance for the band to play and socialize. Dave Jones as usual did a great job compering. A great night was had by pub regulars, visitors and the band. Happy Christmas everyone

The Marple Band have been out and about over the Christmas period to entertain the local community and bring festive cheer to Marple.

It’s always the busiest time of the year for the band with Marple Bridge and their Christmas Extravaganza, St Paul’s Church in Strines playing at their community carol service. The bands’ Concert at the Conservative Club in Marple where the audience joined in with various carols and had a surprise visit from Santa where gifts were given out to all the children. Tuesday night was spent carolling in Tescos at Portwood, Stockport and finally they are playing carols and bierkeller type music at the Devonshire arms in Peak Forest on Friday 22nd December.
The band will then start rehearsing in earnest for the NW Regional Competition in Blackpool.
We still need front and back row cornets so if you fancy a change of scene, get in touch and come down for a blow.
