Meet the Band: we are going to introduce you to a member of The Marple Band each month. This month, it’s the turn of Malcolm Harper.

What a super June 22nd afternoon for the local community of Compstall, who enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon picnicking and socialising to the music from The Marple Band.

The crowds were out in force for the Glossop Heritage weekend to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of D Day.

Hopes were high for all bands this weekend in the Tameside and Saddleworth competition in which thousands of people lined the streets and more than a hundred bands competed against each other.

I had the absolute pleasure of watching The Marple Band play at The Northumberland Arms Community pub recently, what a beautiful musical experience it was.

We are delighted to inform you that we have appointed Nick Birch as our new Musical Director.

On Sunday 21st April we played in the Memorial Park in Marple in the Senior Citizens Hall.

The Marple Band played a charity event at St Christophers Centre in Romiley on March 8th, in aid of the Romiley & Marple Lions Club.

The band competed in the Second Section at The North West Area Championships at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
