It’s that time of the year again when the Lancashire Riviera resort of Blackpool prepares to play host to all the Northwest’s bands at the NWRBBCC contest.
The Marple Band is competing once again in the Empress Ballroom, Blackpool Winter Gardens, after automatic promotion to the 1st section. This follows the fantastic winning result as Second Section National Champions at Cheltenham last September. This will be the first time the band has competed at first section standard for over 20 years.
The First Section test piece, ‘A London Overture’ by Philip Sparke, is very challenging for all sections of the band, but rehearsals are progressing well and the piece is starting to take shape. We look forward to seeing lots of our friends and supporters in Blackpool on Sunday 1st March to cheer us on.
There is a strong line-up in the first section, as listed below.
