The Marple Band were delighted to perform at their first official event since March 2020 on Sunday 11th July and the sun shone all afternoon to make it a memorable return to brass banding.
The band entertained the teams and spectators at Compstall Cricket Clubs’ 150th Birthday celebrations. They played before the start of the cricket match against MCC and then during the break for tea. They played some superb new music, some of which had been purchased from the Co-ops Community Fund that the band had received in 2020, this included Bohemian Rhapsody.
The band also played an arrangement by our very talented Bass Trombone player Steve Sutton of Chitty, Chitty Bang, Bang. Other music on the programme included: Beyond the Sea, Memory, The Great Escape and the ever-popular Floral Dance.
